'Quitting and not regretting it': Coffee shop manager takes employee off schedule after claiming they're not “excited to work”, employee resigns immediately

What's the point of having a job if the boss doesn't actually let you work?

We can say we don't want to work as much as we want, but the reality is that we all need the money, and having a job that gives you nothing to do eventually becomes really boring. Yes, we need a job because we need to earn enough money to afford existing; there is no way around it. But even if you find a job that pays well, if you don't actually do anything all day, you will find yourself looking for tasks to do just to pass the time.

The barista who shared their work problems below had neither, which basically means they didn't really have a job to begin with. It makes sense that the only solution they had was resigning altogether.

It started when they took a job in a local coffee shop 7 months ago, and for the first 6 months, everything went well. They had shifts, they did the job, and they earned money. A solid job. Then, a new manager rolled in who, for some reason, started picking favorites among the staff. This led him to stop scheduling this one employee altogether, which meant that they were forced to go through a whole week without working. The only way they could go around the manager's decision was if they picked up someone else's shift, but that is no way to hold a job or earn a livable wage.

The employee then discovered that the manager only schedules people he deems "excited to work", which is a really horrible excuse to use when you're stopping people from making a living. And since the employee is currently making no money at all in this job, they realized it makes no sense to keep it.
